Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord,
who walks in his ways!
You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands;
you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you.
We all long to be blessed, for things to go well with us.
And how we cry when they don’t.
And how much more we cry or pummel our hearts with critical words when our undoing is at our own hands.
Perhaps we stepped off the path of life only to taste bitter fruit that ultimately reviled us. Maybe we forgot to fear God in a moment when our hurting heart wanted to feel better quickly.
In our haste we gave a part of ourselves away just to be happy in the moment. And now that moment has caught up with us and our hearts are hurting even more.
We wonder will it ever be different.
We long for peace and joy and closeness to the One who loves us best of all, yet how do we get there? Or how do we return to the path that leads to love itself when we feel like we have messed up one time too many?
All we need do is stop and still our hearts.
As we drop to our knees and come to Him humbly He will set us back on the right path.
And our hearts, hardened from our foolishness, will take a little time to feel differently so we will push past our feelings to find the truth that sets us free.
For Christ died for us.
And His bleeding on that cross removes our sins and He remembers them no more.
We can forget them too.
He will give us new seeds to plant. Seeds for a good harvest over time. And eventually the sun will shine and warm our hearts and the fruit will be sweet, bursting with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
And our latter harvest can be a hundred times more beautiful and more blessed than we could possibly imagine.
So let’s stay the course with Him, for with God all things are possible…
