Walking through a rough patch…

O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you;
my soul thirsts for you;
my flesh faints for you,
as in a dry and weary land where there is
no water.
Psalm 63:1

Dry and weary.

When we are walking through a rough patch that’s how our souls feel.

We go through the motions of our lives, but we’re not really seeking God with our whole hearts. Or if we are trying to get closer to Him, He feels a million miles away and as silent as the grave.

And we may begin to question.

Does God care? Is He still there? Does He hear us?

Perhaps we have wandered far from home – and it is Christ that is our home – and we are stumbling in the wilderness. Or perhaps we are obeying as best we can but we just can’t seem to shake off our dark night of the soul.

And we wonder if our soul will ever thirst for Him again. The answer is a delightful yes and amen! He has promised to never leave us.

His word is life-giving water able to replenish the most parched heart. So let’s turn to Father. Ask forgiveness if needed. And tell Him how we feel.

Let Him know we want to sense His closeness again. That we are sorry for listening to the lies of the enemy. That we are earnestly attempting to grow our relationship with the One who loves us like crazy.

The One we cannot live without.

And although we are feeling dry and walking weary and have no idea how or when our situation will change, we just need to keep on keeping on. His love is steadfast and it will steady our hearts showering them with raindrops of grace until we feel the river of life flowing surely through our souls once again…

All our longings end in love

  1. Thanks Sheila, We can so easily listen to the voice of the enemy who wants to destroy us but, God says, not to punish ourselves just gently think back on Him who is always there for us. He is holding us and with His unfailing love remains faithful. God is good all the time. All the time God is good.
