View from Longings End…When it’s hard to let go

Getting over a painful experience is much like crossing monkey bars.
You have to let go at some point in order to move forward.

~ C.S. Lewis

Someone hurt you and you can’t let it go. Even years after the event.

I know what that’s like for there have been painful circumstances in my life when someone I loved ripped my heart out.

I knew what Scripture says about forgiving others yet I held on, disobeying God in order to let self reign.

Refusing to move forward thinking that by holding onto the past I could somehow change it.

And this is when bitterness begins rotting your bones.

The only way to let go is to lift up your pain to God. Ask Him to help you forgive and put the past behind you.

God promises us an abundant life even after heart break.

And when your heart is hurting bad journaling is a good way to release stored trauma and aid the healing process.

A few benefits of journaling include:

>>processing previous events

>>reducing stress

>>clarifies your thinking

>>helps you to detach

>>reveals patterns in the way you think or respond

>>can help you forgive

>>when done prayerfully, brings you closer to God.

Longings End launches Heart Cry Healing, a private Facebook journaling group for women, January 31.
