For those of you missing (as I am) Sheila’s writing during the month of April I thought I’d offer us a few of her most viewed posts… ~michael
A tiny sliver of a fingernail moon pushed aside wisps of grayish cloud high in the western sky.
Hand in hand we ventured up the hill near home, one last foray into the summer day now ending.
And in the hush and the heat, fear slipped its arm around me in a most unwelcome embrace.
Clinging more tightly to Dearest Husband’s hand, not saying a word, yet speaking volumes to the One who hears it all.
Attempting to maintain victory over the enemy.
So much on my mind these last few weeks. Changes everywhere causing my world to swirl. House, job, sons, new business. And then hideous news from Colorado.
Logic overruled by emotion caught up with me on this tired, tired night.
Formidable foe followed me to bed, disturbing sleep for a few hours until exhaustion swept me off my feet.
First light of morning vanquished remnants of fear as I made my way to the quiet place.
God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns.
If you are like me, no matter how strong your faith is or how long you have walked closely with the Lord, sometimes fear gets the better of you. Fear’s grip varying in degrees from mild upset to killer strangle hold. No matter where it falls on the spectrum, we must fight against dark forces unseen.
And our weapons of warfare include the sword of the spirit…
The Lord is a fortress protecting my life.
Should I be frightened of anything?
I sought the Lord and he answered me.
He delivered me from all my fears.
When I was panicked, I said,
“I’m cut off from your eyes!”
But you heard my request for mercy
when I cried out to you for help.
And with my shield of faith in place, I recalled all those times when He held me through raging fear — time and time again — and every single time delivering me safe and sound. And I remembered words penned by Isaiah long ago.
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
My heart, now encouraged by His tender mercies, greets the new day…
