Like so many leaves…

Words can tumble from our lips, as so many leaves fall from trees against an autumn sky.

Words whipped into a frenzy sometimes, like leaves flying about when the wind rushes in.

And those words can be as cold and hard as stone.

Or …

Those words can be full of life and warmth, like a tree all green in summer.

They can contain magnificent beauty, like a hillside covered in in a patchwork comforter of color.

But sometimes we let them just pile up all dead and dying like leaves growing moldy in November’s chill mist.

God tells us we have the power of life and death in our tongues.

Our words can build up or our words can tear down.

And the choice is always ours.

Never does the devil make us do it. God has given us free choice, and with it we decide whom we will serve.

Blessing or cursing with our words.

As for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
Joshua 24:15

Here’s a truth that Dearest Husband and I seek to uphold daily. But sometimes, a tense tempest comes rushing at us and one or the other will utter something not as positive as usual.

You, too?

And in those moments, someone’s heart gets hurt.  God’s most of all, for whatever we do to the least of these brethren of His we do to Him. So let us be careful not to wound the Holy Spirit.

And remember that our ill words can chip away at the foundation of a relationship if we are not mindful.

But that is when grace rolls in, and the morning brings mercies ever new.  And forgiveness.

For when a heart is committed to serving the Lord there is no turning back, even though a moment’s inattention to that still small voice may cause us to stumble.

Let us confess our sins one to the other so that we may be healed.
James 5:16

Knowing that we are all alike. We are all sinners. Not one of us can claim to be without sin.

So when life rushes against you with overwhelming challenges, fears or fatigue all swirling about your feet like so many autumn leaves, causing you to trip up for a moment…be quick to seek or offer forgiveness.

And then keep moving forward, for it is not the end of anything.

Rather, it is God’s grace in allowing you to see how much you need Him everyday. How much further you have to go.

So stay in His word, and your heart will overflow with good things.

Pray to Him, seeking grace and strength for each new day.

Learn to love Him and others with your whole heart.

And someday, when we meet Jesus face to face {and how amazing and cool and mind blowing that will be!!} He will look at us tenderly I have no doubt, smile and throw His arms around us, saying, You fought the good fight to the end, no matter how many times you fell down. Like David, you are a man or woman with a heart after God. Well done, my good and faithful friend, enter into all I have for you.

Because God is love and forgiveness.

Everlastingly so.

And He is a God with a heart of longing for us to come to Him and stay with Him, knowing and loving Him more each day. Loving and serving others increasingly above self.

So let us not grow weary in doing good, but remember the ancient words of truth.

As God’s prisoner, then, I beg you to live lives worthy of your high calling. Accept life with humility and patience, making allowances for each other because you love each other. Make it your aim to be at one in the Spirit, and you will inevitably be at peace with one another.

You all belong to one body, of which there is one Spirit, just as you all experienced one calling to one hope. There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God, one Father of us all, who is the one over all, the one working through all and the one living in all.

Let there be no more foul language, but good words instead—words suitable for the occasion, which God can use to help other people.

Never hurt the Holy Spirit. He is, remember, the personal pledge of your eventual full redemption.

Let there be no more resentment, no more anger or temper, no more violent self-assertiveness, no more slander and no more malicious remarks, Be kind to each other, be understanding. Be as ready to forgive others as God for Christ’s sake has forgiven you.
Ephesians 4:1-6 and 4:29-31

And may the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable to you, our Lord…

ELECTION DAY!!!  Don’t forget to get out and VOTE today. This is one of the most crucial elections in history, and your vote counts! And however you vote, may your moral conscience be your guide.
